Robert McArthur was born in Riverside, California, the youngest of 5 boys of the late Walter Edward, Sr., and Della May (Hall) McArthur. His father (inventor of “Stud” welding) traveled as part of his professional career and moved the family to Forest Hills, NY when Robert was 10. This is where Robert discovered tennis (which became a passion for him in later years) since the US open tennis facility was right outside their backyard. From New York, Robert’s father's business took the family to Elyria, OH for his senior year of high school. After high school, he went to Ohio State University before transferring to the University of Southern California. After graduating from the University of Southern California, Robert had many successful professional roles as a system’s analyst working for Lockheed Aircraft, American Airlines and Bank of America. Due to his professional acumen, he was able to retire early at age 50 and move to Cebu, Philippines to live a resort lifestyle. He played tennis at the Sandtrap Club and spent time with friends and traveled. He spent his family life in Napa, California married to Danelle (Cole), and children Dane, Wade, and Megan. Napa was paradise to him and he built his home like a park. He loved to make wine, to garden, and take care of all the animals and he loved to have extended family come to visit and eat summer meals in the backyard. At 81 years of age, he moved from the Philippines to the home of his daughter (Megan) and spent time reading and attending his grandchildren’s activities. His hobbies included tennis, golf, gardening, interest in astronomy, and making wine when living in Napa, Calif. He always had a dog, and he loved his dogs. Surviving are his children, Dane Robert (Isabel) McArthur, of Lakewood, Calif., and Megan (James) McArthur Merante, of Export; grandchildren, Monica Merante, Joseph Merante, Clare Merante, Thomas Merante, Stephen Merante, Elliott McArthur, and Joshua McArthur; brother, Bruce (Cynthia) McArthur; sisters-in-law, LaVonne McArthur, Bette McArthur and Lylalee McArthur; divorced spouses, Danelle Knudson and Gera Villarin; also, many nieces and nephews.
