Raymond J. Zeyzus, age 102 of Salem Township, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at his home, six days before his 103rd birthday. He was born May 12, 1923 in Export, a son of the late Waclaw and Petronella (Wiezbinski) Zeyzus. Ray was a retired employee of Westinghouse Airbrake Co., in Wilmerding and was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Church in Delmont. He was a World War II, United States Army veteran and a life member of the Export Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed bird watching, fishing and hunting; and enjoyed puzzles, cooking, baking, crafty projects, and spending time with his granddaughter doing fun things, such as making gingerbread houses, carving pumpkins and decorating Easter eggs. Ray is survived by his loving family; children, Renee (John) Bowman of Bell Township and Julie Zeyzus of Chambersburg; cherished granddaughter, Darcy Bowman; a sister, Helen “Tina” Zychal and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Florence “Lala” (Salensky) Zeyzus; brothers, Fred, Adam, Henry, Leon, John, Ted, Louis and Richard; sisters, Bertha Gillis, Theresa Basista and Lucy and Irene Zeyzus. Friends and family are welcome Monday, May 11, 2026 from 4-8 p.m. at the Wolfe-von Geis Funeral Home, Inc., Export. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Baptist de la Salle Church, Delmont. Interment will follow with military honors accorded by the Greensburg V.F.W. Post #33 Honor Guard in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
