Mary Ann Reck, 83, of Export, PA, passed away Monday, September 19, 2022 after a short stay in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg.
Mary Ann is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Dino L. Reck and her loving daughters Rhonda (Steven) Schoonover of Adamstown, MD; Lori (Ronald) Snodgrass of Clarksville, TN and cherished grandson, Justin Snodgrass as well as very special nieces, nephews and cousins. She was born May 26, 1939 in Export, a daughter of the late Henry and Frances (Mazur) Swaskey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Henry Swaskey, Jr., infant grandson Adam Schoonover and many cherished aunts, uncles and loved ones.
Mary Ann worked hard and enjoyed her life. She started working in her father’s grocery store, Henry’s Market, as a young woman. After raising her daughters and caring for her dad she went to work at the Murrysville Giant Eagle when it opened, where she worked as a cashier and retired after 25 years. She was a woman of great faith throughout her life and was a devoted member of St. Mary Church, Export where she was a cantor and sang in the choir for many years. She enjoyed making and keeping a nice home full of love. She enjoyed shopping for a new outfit, trips to the casino and had a love of ducks. She liked visiting with family and friends both near and far and took an interest in getting to know people. She cared about others. She cared for others, in her thoughts, with her words, in her deeds and with her prayers. She would want everyone to feel the love of God and to keep the faith.
Friends and family, are welcomed at the Wolfe-von Geis Funeral Home, Inc., 5701 Lincoln Ave., Export (724) 327-1400 on Friday, September 23 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Export. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Export. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made in Mary Ann’s name to St. Mary Church, 5900 Kennedy Ave, Export, PA 15632.
