Margaret “Margie” Ventura, 90, of Delmont, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2026, at William Penn Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born on April 3, 1935, in Export, PA, a daughter of the late Raymond and Anna (Berardinelli) Woods. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Woods, and her sister, Hazel Oslosky.
Margaret will be greatly missed by her loving and devoted family. She is survived by her children: Kenneth Ventura and his wife, Constance, of Penn Township; Kathy Wilson and her husband, Mark, of Export; and Mark Ventura and his wife, Marybeth, of Penn Township. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kara (David) Schumann, Brent Wilson, Tyler (Caity) Alden, Alexandra (Greg) Neumann, Madeline Ventura, and Logan Ventura; and her great-grandchildren: Elena Wilson and Lyla and Parker Schumann. Margie is further survived by her sister-in-law, Marie Woods, of Claridge; her lifelong friend, Kay (Woatich) Cargnel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margie enjoyed being social and made sure to sign the book at the Italian American Club and Moose Lodge 234, both in Export. She was a longtime member of Faith Global Methodist Church in Delmont. She especially loved going out for meals or a quick cup of coffee with her dear friend Kay for girl talk. The two shared a lifetime of memories and were like sisters.
Margie took great pride in her housekeeping skills, but her greatest accomplishments were raising her family and helping care for her grandchildren. As a family, we loved being together and began collecting her unique “Marge traits,” lovingly referred to as “Margisms.” For example, she brought her own silverware to fish fries so she wouldn’t have to use plastic utensils that might break. She never had a hangover — she had the “24-hour flu,” which we fondly called the “Marge Flu.” She always had snacks on hand for road trips, and you always wanted her in your car. Within ten miles of leaving the driveway, she would have an instant charcuterie board set up. Her grandchildren all knew that if you didn’t wash behind your ears, potatoes would grow out of them.
Our family is deeply grateful to Kim Creper for her weekly visits to spend time with Margie, and to the Heartland Hospice team — especially Christine, Cindy, Kaylee, and Chaplain Greg — for their compassionate care and unwavering support. Their kindness brought comfort to our mom and allowed for a peaceful transition.
