Madeline H. “Madge” Remic age 94 of Export died Tuesday, September 5, 2017 in William Penn Care Center, Penn Township. She was born January 18, 1923 in Newry, a daughter of the late George Washington Smith and Edna P. (Moore) Smith. Madge began work at a young age at the Pennsylvania Railroad in Pitcairn where she met and fell in love with her future husband John W. Remic. She later was employed by the Postal Service as a custodian and later a substitute mail carrier. It was said that “Export had the cleanest Post Office on the planet.” She was a member of Emmanuel Reformed United Church of Christ (Hills Church), Export where she served on the Women’s guild. Madeline enjoyed traveling, sewing, quilting, embroidering, her flower and vegetable gardens and playing cards, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband John W. Remic; loving son Richard W. “Rick” Remic; siblings, Jim, Ellen, George, Alta and E. William Emeigh. Surviving is her loving daughter; Linda Dulaney and her husband Bill of Plum Borough; daughter in-law Bernie Remic; cherished grandchildren, Heather Dulaney, Tiffany (Ashley) Crabtree and Heidi (Brian) Compton; adored great grandchildren; Madison Behnke, Alexa Behnke, Brian Compton, Jr., Caitlin Crabtree and Aria Dulaney; brother Charles (JoAnn) Emeigh; sister in-laws, Betty Smith, Anne Trent, Teressa Remic and Carol Emeigh; brother in-law William (Anne) Remic.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends welcome Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Wolfe-von Geis Funeral Home, Inc., 5701 Lincoln Ave., Export (724) 327-1400 where services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Joseph Hedden, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Madeline’s name to Emmanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, 3618 Hills Church Rd., Export, PA 15632 or Alzheimer’s Research, 1100 Liberty Ave., Ste.
