Conrad "Leroy" Balest age 78 of Ringertown / Export, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 15, 2022. He was born May 29, 1943 in Jeannette, a son of the late Conrad and Dorothy (Korche) Balest. Leroy was a retired employee of Franklin Regional School District where he worked in the maintenance department. He was an amazing athlete who exceled in every sport that he played. He was a proud member of the 1952-1955 White Valley Little League championship team that went undefeated for 4 years. Leroy was also a member of the 1961 Franklin Area Long Horns basketball team and a member of the White Valley men’s adult softball team for many years and in his later years he was an avid golfer. He was a member of the White Valley Athletic and Social Club and a social member of the White Valley Amvets who enjoyed watching the Steelers and Pirates play ball and loved Doo-wop music. In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by a son Joseph L. Balest. Surviving is his beloved wife Margaret “Margo” (Huot) Balest of 58 years; loving daughters, Melissa (Jim) DeBiase of White Valley, Annette (Fiancé Brian) Balest of Pittsburgh and Marlee (Paige) Tomcsanyi of Penn Township; cherished grandchildren, Colton, Mitchell DeBiase and Jacob, Matthew and Samuel Balest and daughter in-law Jennifer Balest. Also survived by many cousins. Friends and family are welcomed on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Wolfe-von Geis Funeral Home, Inc., 5701 Lincoln Ave., Export (724) 327-1400 where services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
