Leah Ventura Obituary

Leah “Connie” Ventura died peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2025 with her family at her side. She was a kindhearted woman who always had a smile and word of thanks for any help or friendship extended to her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother great grandmother and aunt. She was born on December 4, 1926 to the late Leland C. and Leah M. Raymaley.

Connie met the love of her life, Hector, when she was a cheerleader at Penn Township High School. They married on April 10, 1948 and were married for 59 years before Hector passed away in 2007. They had 4 children, Gary (deceased), Leah Marr (Ron) from Ligonier, PA, Lola (deceased) and Chris (Dale) from Ellicott City, MD.

Connie was full of energy and enjoyed life each and every day. She was a stay at home mother to her 3 children and moved several times throughout her marriage so that her husband could pursue his career with Westinghouse. Along the way Connie made many lifelong friends. Her home was filled with love and an endless bowl of pasta on the table for any family gathering. She enjoyed gourmet cooking and was a self-taught pastry and cookie baker. Her Christmas cookie platters and wedding cookies were bakery worthy. Her family was her everything.

She also enjoyed traveling, watching the Steelers, as well as many other activities. Bowling was her true passion. She participated in 2 different leagues each week, prior to moving into Brookdale. Connie was an excellent bowler and bowled until she was 92. She had a 300 game when in her 80’s.

In addition to her husband Hector, she is preceded in death by her daughter Lola, son Gary, grandson Jayson, brother Chalmers, sisters Ruthie, Betty, Elinor, and Gracie.

She leaves 4 grandchildren, Meredith McCandless (Jim, deceased), from Severn, MD, Dominic Ventura (Kate) from New Market, MD, Anthony Ventura (Beth) from Glastonbury, CT and David Marr (Caitlin) from San Antonio, TX, 7 great grandchildren: Claudia, Sarah and Georgia McCandless, Rosemary, Patrick, Ava and Hunter Ventura. She is also survived by two sisters Shirley Raymaley and Maggie Mullinex along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Connie was very kind and caring and will truly be missed
