Helen M. (Biesuz) Opsitnick, age 99 of Export, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 23, 1926 in Export, a daughter of the late Luigi and Maria (Casagrande) Biesuz. Helen was the last surviving sibling and was the Matriarch of the family. She was a member of St. Mary Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Export, where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and was a chairperson for the spaghetti dinners over the years. She was a social member of the Export Volunteer Fire Department where she helped with fund raising. Helen was a parts runner for her late brother, George’s Body Shop and was employed by the former Thatcher’s Motel in Delmont. She will be fondly remembered for her delicious food especially her spaghetti sauce, sumptuous meatballs topped off with a glass or two of Lambrusco. Helen cherished spending time with her family and was known as Gram to many who met her. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her beloved Husband, Stephen Opsitnick, Sr., a daughter Jacqueline Learn,. great grandson Kameron Forbes, siblings, John Biesuz, George Biesuz, Eli Biesuz, Esther Skandera, Mary Merich, Della Peters, Aldo Calder and Rome Calder. Survived by her loving son Stephen (Jenn) Opsitnick, Jr., grandchildren, Dr. Scott (Jenn) Learn, Lisa (Bob) Forbes and Abby (Colin), great grandchildren, Brandon Learn, Lucas (Matt) Greba, great great grandchildren, Haven and Emery Greba and God granddaughter Miya Perkins, sister in-law’s, Silvia Opsitnick, June Opsitnick and special niece, Carlotta Thatcher. Also survived by many nieces nephews, great nieces and nephews. Helen’s family would to thank Heartland Hospice for their assistance and Helen’s daughter in-law, Jen for her special loving care. Friends are welcome Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Wolfe-von Geis Funeral Home., Inc., 5701 Lincoln Avenue, Export (724) 327-1400. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025 in St. Mary Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Export. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in Helen’s name to the Export Volunteer Fire Department New Truck Fund, 5815 Washington Ave., Export, PA 15632.
