Florence Louise Hoy, 94, of Murrysville, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family, on July 2, 2022. She was born July 10, 1927 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of William and Florence Harvey. She was raised by Alfred and Lucetta Haberstroh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Bob Hoy, and her sisters Norma Beckett and Ethel Harvey. Florence is survived by her sister, Shirley Ferringer of Mayport, PA, three children, Bob (Jane) Hoy of Kitty Hawk, NC, Bill (Jayne) Hoy of Export, and Holly (Bob) Stephenson of Boydton, VA, and her much loved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Florence graduated from Wilkinsburg High School and was a supremely talented woman. With a keen eye; she worked in fashion and retail as a buyer, often traveling to 5th Avenue, NYC. She went on to open and manage other womens fashion retailers. Florence was an artist as well. She was a brilliant painter and seamstress. One of her finest works was a beautiful wedding dress for her daughter-in-law. Always active in her community, she was the former President of the Murrysville Senior Center.
The family will receive friends from 1pm-5pm, Thursday at Murrysville Alliance Church, followed by a prayer by Pastor Dan Lawrence. Immediately following will be a celebration of life at Flo’s residence, 3658 Hills Church Road, Export, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions if desired, may be made in Flo's name to the Murrysville Senior Citizen Center, 3091 Carson Ave., Murrysville, PA 15668.
