Edward "Ned" Joseph Britt, Jr. age 68 of Export
6/18/1955 - 7/6/2023
Ned was always the life of the party. He was a master storyteller with a great sense of humor. His animation and delivery, while retelling a situation he encountered, were so hysterical and often self-deprecating, leaving his audience in tears.
He was an extremely talented and gifted self-taught musician. As a lead guitar player and song writer for the original Iron City Houserockers in Pittsburgh, he was acknowledged in Rolling Stone magazine for his "searing guitar solos"
Ned owned and operated American Flooring. Also self-taught, he built a thriving business. In time, he was sought after for his intricate and unique designs in his Tile work.
Being the only brother, with five sisters, he was often asked what that was like growing up. He always responded, "I loved every second of it!"
Ned suffered a debilitating stroke in 2012. He battled valiantly for years to recover, but it eventually robbed him of his quality of life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ned and Rita Britt, and nephews Dustin and Chad Norris, of Export, PA.
He is survived by his sisters Debbie (Vince) Manetti, Cindee (Brad) Norris, Molly (Paul) Rehrig, Patsy (Michael) Irwin, Kelly (Jeff) Shea, numerous nieces, and nephews. He will also be sorely missed by his lifelong companion, Wendy Justice, and countless people who were lucky enough to be his friend.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Wolfe-von Geis Funeral Home of Export, PA. Services will be private. For online condolences please visit www.wolfe-vongeis.com.
