(née Karp) Galet age 93 of Export,
passed away on Sept 29, 2021.
She was born June 30, 1928 in Export PA a daughter of the late Nellie and Sylvester Karp, Dorothy was the youngest of 9 children. She was a proud lifelong resident of her hometown and she and her siblings were a close loving family throughout their lives.
She graduated from Export High School where she was captain of the women’s basketball team.
She had an inner strength that belied her quiet demeanor and was always patient, kind, and generous. Raising her children was her proudest accomplishment. Her family and her faith were her guiding beacons in life. She was a life-long member of St Mary Catholic Church in Export.
She had many talents including baking, cake decorating, gardening, and needlepoint. Her love of books and children led her to
volunteer at Clelian Heights library for a number of years. Her appreciation of nature and all God’s creatures, great and small, was another of her defining traits.
She is predeceased by her husband Robert (Bert) Galet, a WWII Navy veteran, and her 8 siblings.
She is survived by her 5 devoted children : Gerry Hooper (Frank), Pamela Pratt (Paul), Bob Galet (Linda), Valerie Susa and Jane Vereb (Len); 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren,; and several nieces & nephews.
Dorothy will be dearly missed but will live on in the hearts of her family. She was and will continue to be their guiding light. The family will welcome friends Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Wolfe-von Geis Funeral Home, Inc., 5701 Lincoln Ave., Export (724) 327-1400. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary Church, Export, Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Export
