David L. Dwan, of Derry, PA, originally of Wilkinsburg, PA passed away of complications to diabetes early Sunday morning at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System- H.J. Heinz Campus. Dave was 67 years old. He is survived by the love of his life Betty Milburn along with her children Thomas D. Clark Jr., James E. Clark, Bridget M. Clark, and Tracy J. Askey. He was adored by his eight grandchildren Zay Bell, Robert W. Bush, Jeffrey D. Stitt, Laura M. Bush, Thomas “Bubby” D. Clark III, Cody J. Stitt, Beth A. Clark, and Shane T. Clark. Dave is the son of the late James Dwan and Ethel (Kagarise) Dwan. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by siblings Diane (Dwan) Stoffle and Richard Dwan; an Aunt Mildred Walsh and a brother in-law Richard “Dick” Stoffle. He is an Uncle to several nieces and nephews.

Dave was forced to learn responsibility very early in life, having suffered the death of both of his parents by the time he was a young man, he was a hard working man who understood the value of a dollar. He served in the United States Army and attended college at the Community College of Allegheny County. He spent over 20 years of his life as a dedicated civil servant to the people of the City of Pittsburgh as a post-man for the United States Postal Service, from which he was retired.

Dave had a passion for history, road trips, and natural wonders. He spent much of his time with his beloved Betty traveling to historical sites, national and state parks, and just generally exploring the world he lived in. He was a passionate fan of Pittsburgh sports teams and believed heavily in patriotism. In addition, some of Dave’s favorite places were the VFW of Ligonier, the Eagles of Blairsville, Subalpine Club, Turtle Creek, Swissvale Moose and the American Ukrainian Citizens Club, Wilmerding.

Friends welcome Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Wolfe-von Geis Funeral Home, Inc., 5701 Lincoln Ave., Export (724) 327-1400 where services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
