Alberta Anne (Peters) Glunt

In loving memory of Alberta Anne Glunt. Some people leave behind accomplishments others leave behind possessions. Alberta Anne Glunt left behind something more valuable: a family who knew without question that they were loved.

Alberta was born on November 5, 1954 and passed away peacefully at home on June 3, 2026, surrounded by the love she spent a lifetime giving away.

If you asked Alberta what mattered most, the answer would never been found in a job title, a bank account or a list of achievements; It was always her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, friend and caregiver. She spent her life putting others before her self, often sacrificing her own comfort so that others got what they needed.

She married her high school sweetheart, Curtis Richard Glunt, in 1970. Their love story began in the halls of Franklin Regional High School, where Alberta graduated with the class of 1972 and proudly served as a cheerleader. Together they lived a life rooted  in loyalty, perseverance and diligence.

Alberta was a loving mother of Lana Anne Hixenbaugh (Joe) and Jennifer Adele Glunt. She was a proud grandmother to Dylan Hixenbaugh (Samantha), Logan Hixenbaugh, Ashlan Hixenbaugh (fiancé Caleb Harskowitch) and Gavan Hixenbaugh. Her greatest joy was becoming a great grandmother to Joey and Adelina Hixenbaugh, and she eagerly anticipated the arrival of their third great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Cheyanne Adele Hixenbaugh.

Alberta was also preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Della (Caldrer) Peters.

Throughout her life, Alberta was known for her tireless work ethic. Whether managing Thatcher’s Motel, delivering mail as a rural letter carrier for route 11 in Export for the United States Postal Service, or serving customers at Walmart; she approached every job with determination and pride. There were times she worked two jobs at once, not for recognition; but simply because she wanted to provide for her family. Christmas mornings were brighter because of the sacrifices she quietly made throughout the year.

She battled cancer for five years with remarkable strength and dignity. Many people facing such a challenge would have complained, questioned and surrendered to bitterness; Alberta chose none of those paths. She fought quietly, courageously and with grace. Even during her illness, she remained focused on those around her rather than herself.

Alberta possessed a rare combination of qualities: she was beautiful, loving, caring, strong-willed, stubborn when she needed to be; endlessly accepting and fiercely loyal. She welcomed people as they were and believed everyone deserved kindness.

She loved the beach, adventure and making memories. She went parasailing, explored snorkeling, and never lost her sense of curiosity. Yet her favorite adventures were often the simplest ones: spending time with family, loving her pets and making people laugh.

She adored her cat, Kilig and enjoyed visits with the family’s beloved cats. Frappe, Salem and Eclipse. Her favorite animal was a monkey and one of her most treasured companions was a stuffed monkey named Moe,  from Jennifer’s childhood.

Perhaps nothing captured Alberta’s spirit better than  the phrase she often used when talking about her great grandchildren: she wanted to “Run, jump and play” A few weeks before her passing; that remained her wish. Her body may have been weakening, but her heart was still focused on  creating joy for the children she loved.

Alberta lived for many years in Export and Delmont, Pennsylvania; with a brief chapter in Vacaville, California. No matter where her life took her, she remained loyal to her hometown roots and the people she loved.

Those who knew Alberta will remember her not only for what she did, but for who she was: a woman who loved deeply, worked tirelessly, accepted freely, gave generously and never stopped caring for others.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that the love she poured into the world continues through every life she touched. Her legacy is not measured in years; but in the countless acts of kindness, sacrifice and unconditional love that defined her life.

She will be missed beyond words and loved beyond measure.

Family and friends are welcome Monday, June 8, 2026,  from 2-8 p.m. at the Wolfe-von Geis Funeral Home, Inc., 5701 Lincoln Ave., Export, PA 15632, where services will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at 11 a.m.
