Richard Speranza Obituary

Richard A. “Rich” Speranza age 83 of White Valley died peacefully March 10, 2018 in Redstone Highlands, Murrysville with his loving family by his side. He was born March 27, 1934 in Avonmore a son of the late Ferminio and Lena (Ridicco) Speranza. In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Growing up he worked on the family farm in Saltsburg with his brothers and sisters. In 1979 he established Speranza Machining, Inc. in the garage at his home in White Valley and in 1986 he moved the business to its current location on Boyd Road in Export where he worked with his son, Rick; daughter, Denise and grandson Brad. Rich was a United States Army veteran who enjoyed traveling and Thursday evening dinner club get together's with his wife and their dear close friends. But his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family. Surviving is his beloved wife Joanne F. (LaCaria) Speranza; 2 loving children, Richard J. “Rick” Speranza and his wife Anna M. and Denise A. Speranza-Ferri and her husband Gregory F. Ferri. Pappy will be sorely missed by his grandchildren; Bradley T. Speranza and his wife Brittany, Angela J. Speranza, Stephanie L. Speranza, Zachery J. Ferri and Cole Ferri; great grandchildren, Ryleigh Speranza, Emma Speranza and Jordyn Speranza. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends welcome Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Wolfe-von Geis Funeral Home, Inc., Export (724) 327-1400. A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. John de la Salle Church, Delmont with Father Efren Ambre as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont with military honors accorded by the Greensburg V.F.W. Post #33 honor guard. The family suggests memorial contributions to Brain Cancer Research at UPMC Pavilion, 5150 Centre Ave., STE 1B, Pittsburgh, PA 15232-9944.
